General Education Requirements

Please read the descriptions below to determine the general education requirements based on the term your were first enrolled at WSU:

Students who must meet (Spring 1987-Spring 2005) requirements

*First enrolled at WSU Spring/Summer 1987 as first time freshman or transfer student with fewer than 12 credit hours earned after high school graduation
*First enrolled at WSU Fall 1990 who began college coursework fall 1988 or later
*First enrolled at WSU Fall 1991 through Spring/Summer 2005
*First enrolled at WSU before Fall 2007 who began college coursework before Fall 2005 after graduation from high school and transferred more the 12 credit hours earned after high school graduation

Students who must meet (Fall 2005-present) requirements

*First enrolled at WSU Fall 2005 as a first time freshman or transfer student with fewer than 12 credit hours earned after high school graduation
*First enrolled at WSU Fall 2006 through Spring/Summer 2007 who began college course work after graduation from high school Fall 2005 or later
*All students who began WSU coursework Fall 2007 or later

 Please refer to the grid below to determine your general education requirements:

If you enter WSU Fall 2005 as a first-time freshman or a transfer student with fewer than 12 transferable credits  earned after high school graduation, you will follow General Education Requirements labeled:
Fall 05-Present
 
If you enter WSU with 12 or more transferable credits earned after high school graduation;
And you start at WSU Spring/Summer 2006 Fall 2006, Winter 2007, Spring/Summer 2007 Fall 2007 or later
Then you will follow General Education Requirements labeled:





Spring 1987-Spring 2005

If you began college course work before Fall 2005 (after graduation from high school)

Spring 1987-Spring 2005
If you began college course work Fall 2005 or later

Fall 2005-present





Fall 2005-present
 
If you first enrolled at WSU Spring/Summer 1987 as a first-time freshman or a transfer student with fewer than 12 transferable credits  earned after high school graduation, you will follow General Education Requirements labeled:
Summer 87-Summer 05
If you started at WSU Fall 1990 and you began college course work  Fall 1988 or later Fall 1991,  all undergraduates
Then you will follow General Education Requirements labeled:


Spring 1987-Spring 2005

Students Who Must Meet "Old Requirements".

The "Old Requirements", or Non-General Education requirements are intended for all students who were regularly admitted and first enrolled at Wayne State within the guidelines below:

*Were fully admitted to the University prior to Fall 1987;
*First enrolled at WSU between Fall 1987 and Spring/Summer 1990 and transferred 13 or more credits; or

*First enrolled at WSU between Fall 1990 and Spring/Summer 1991, but completed college coursework elsewhere prior to Fall 1988, and transferred 13 or more credits.
