            <title>NEW ENGLISH COMPOSITION POLICY!</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>Effective Fall term 2008, all students will be required to demonstrate the Basic Composition (BC) and Intermediate Composition (IC) competencies by satisfactory completion of designated courses or equivalent transfer courses with a &quot;C&quot; or better ( a &quot;C-&quot; is not a &quot;C&quot;), or by earning advanced placement credit.&nbsp; Basic and/or Intermediate Composition courses successfully completed at Wayne State University or transferred from another university or college prior to Fall Term, 2008 are exempt from this new grade requirement.&nbsp;</p>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>Freshmen: First Time on Probation</p>
<p>When freshman students enrolled in Liberal Arts &amp; Sciences or Fine, Performing, &amp; Communication Arts fall below a 2.0 GPA as a result of their first term at Wayne State University, they are placed on academic probation and a hold is placed on future registration. Because of their academic status these students are now part of a WSU program called WayneREACH (Reaching for Academic Heights). This program, outlined below, can help freshman students succeed academically and make satisfactory progress toward graduation.</p>
<p>1)&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Schedule an appointment with an Academic Advisor</p>
<p>&bull;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Call 313-577-2680 or stop in to 1600 Undergraduate Library to schedule</p>
<p>2)&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Before the appointment, complete the Student Voice Survey.</p>

<p>3)&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Students are enrolled in a free blackboard course</p>
